Can international visitors use Chocolat?
We do not apply a blanket refusal based solely on nationality.
At present, guests must be at least 20 years old, understand the prices and important notices, and be able to communicate in Japanese with staff and the person providing the service.
If Japanese communication is difficult and both sides cannot confirm the service details and precautions, we cannot accept the visit safely. If anything is unclear, please check by telephone before making a reservation.
Current admission requirements for international visitors
Foreign nationality, travelling in Japan, or having a first language other than Japanese does not, by itself, mean that a guest will be refused.
We check age, understanding of prices, service details and precautions, and the ability to communicate as needed in Japanese with staff and the person providing the service.
The current requirements are also explained in the official Chocolat reservation guide (Japanese).
Why Japanese communication is necessary
Before a visit, both the guest and the establishment need to confirm the prices, service plan, service details, precautions, prohibited actions and the wishes of the person providing the service accurately.
Miscommunication can cause anxiety and misunderstandings about prices or services. It can also put a burden on the person providing the service and create safety problems. We therefore check that the necessary communication is possible when reserving and on arrival.
If you are unsure whether you meet the requirements, please consult staff before reserving rather than deciding on your own.
STI risk is unrelated to nationality
A person's risk of a sexually transmitted infection cannot be judged by nationality.
Testing, correct condom use and medical care when needed are important for prevention, early detection and early treatment. However, testing and preventive measures do not reduce the risk to zero.
If you have concerns about your health or infection, consult a medical professional. See also the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's information on STI prevention and testing (Japanese).
